Troy Powell
CEO
Troy has served as CEO of HealthSouth of Charleston since 2004. He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in healthcare administration. He and his family live in the Summerville area, where he is involved in various civic organizations including the Summerville Miracle League where he was a founding board member. Troy serves on numerous healthcare committees including the South Carolina Trauma Advisory Council, American Heart Association and South Carolina Brain Injury Alliance.

William J. Livesay, DO
Medical Director

Dr. Livesay is a 1999 graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He holds a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University. Dr. Livesay completed his internship in 2000 in the Department of Family Medicine at West Virginia University Hospitals and his residency in 2003 in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine. He was board certified in 2005 by the Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to coming to HealthSouth of Charleston, Dr. Livesay was the Medical Director at Gentiva Rehab Without Walls in Phoenix, Ariz., as well as the medical director at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Acute Rehabilitation Service in Phoenix. His clinical interests include spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputee and spasticity treatment.


Jamy Mendez
Jamy is a graduate of Trident Technical College with an associate’s degree in allied sciences. A physical therapist assistant with more than 15 years experience in the health care field, she has been employed with HealthSouth of Charleston for more than twelve years. Jamy is an active volunteer in the community with wheelchair sports and has been a volunteer with the Charleston Amputee Support Team (CAST) for more than eight years. She was the recipient of the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2006 award for “Health Care Hero Volunteer” for her work in the community.

Brad Howington
DMO
Brad has been with HealthSouth Corporation for nearly 10 years. He joined HealthSouth of Rock Hill in February 2002, working in various capacities including physical therapist assistant, rehab liaison and director of marketing operations. Brad joined the management team of HealthSouth of Charleston in January 2012. Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gardner Webb University and an associate's degree in physical therapy from Trident Technical College.

Donna White
Donna has 20 years of experience as a human resources generalist in various industries that include healthcare, manufacturing and staffing. She attended Belhaven University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business management and has been employed with HealthSouth for more than eleven years.

Beckye Lariviere
Controller
Beckye has been with HealthSouth of Charleston for more than seven years, with 15 years of prior healthcare financial management experience in both specialty and acute care hospital settings. She’s earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Charleston Southern University. She is an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan.

Cathy Sanner
Cathy has practiced pharmacy for nearly 15 years, nine years of which have been in hospital pharmacy management. Born in North Carolina, she has lived in the Charleston area for nearly 30 years. Cathy has a bachelor’s degree from The College of Charleston and has taught high school history, geography and journalism. She received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Patricia Simon
Chief Nursing Officer
Patty is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of healthcare experience in a variety of clinical, management and leadership roles in the acute care setting. She has been employed by HealthSouth for two-and-a-half years. Patty is a bachelor’s prepared nurse and enrolled in a master’s degree program with an anticipated completion date of May 2013. As President for the Lowcountry Affiliate for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and a breast cancer survivor herself, she is very involved with breast cancer education in the community. Patty is the recipient of the 2006 Komen Foundation Volunteer of the Year Award, the 2005 Thomas Frist Sr. Humanitarian Award and the 2005 Komen Community Hero Award. She is married with two married sons.

Jim Burns
Jim has been Director of Plant Operations since June 2007. Prior to coming to HealthSouth, he held the Director of Plant Operations position at Palmetto Behavioral Health in Charleston for seven years. Jim served 23 years with the United States Navy before retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in 1990. While in the Navy, Jim served as Engineer Officer on two large ships and helped recommission the USS Iowa. He and his wife Charlotte live in Summerville, where they are active in their church and other community events.
